Realize the Irony

I am loving the new studio space. And, of course, I’m thrilled to finally have the long arm quilter that I’ve been dreaming of!

I did get to play with it a little bit on Saturday. I loaded a piece of plain fabric with a backing and batting to try out some moves. Boy I love it!!

But I still have some other projects to finish, which is where the irony comes in!

My list for August includes making the Bonnie blocks (yes, I’m going to have to come up with a better name for this quilt!), adding some blocks to my Easy Street flimsy, finishing two donation quilts and assembling the pink and purple quilt.

What is ironic, is – I have a LAQ and I am working on a Quilt-As-You-Go quilt!

The pink and purple quilt (again, a better name would be good!) was already started as QAYG, so I’m finishing it that way. I’ve got four of the eight rows all put together with the sashing sewn down on the front and back. The other four rows are assembled with the sashing on the front and I still have to sew the back sashing.

I’m using a sparkly fabric for the sashing. I think this close up of it shows a little bit of the sparkle.

It should be very nice for a pretty princess, don’t you think!?!

I’m hoping to load another practice piece onto the Fun Quilter either today or tomorrow. I want to make sure the canvas leaders are on straight before I do that, because I had a little bit of trouble with the first practice piece not rolling straight. I don’t know if it was my fault since I’m new at this, or if the leaders aren’t straight and therefore the quilt rolls up crooked. I’m just going to keep practicing until I get it right!!
