You can uncross everything

DH and I went for a pleasant bike ride in the country yesterday. As I mentioned yesterday, we were going to look at a Nolting Fun Quilter that was for sale.

Even though I was very hopeful that I would be getting the long awaited long arm quilter, I wasn’t completely sure that it would happen.

Yes, DH has been more sympathetic to my requests, saying that “someday” I might be able to get one.

And he has definitely been absorbing much more information about long arm quilters instead of just nodding his head and basically ignoring me.

But still, I’m not going to make a large purchase without him agreeing to it. After all, we’re in this marriage together and we should agree on things like that.

I wouldn’t want him to go out and spend thousands of dollars without my approval, so I need to give him the same courtesy.

And I wasn’t completely sure that he would agree to the purchase. Sometimes he seems like he’s going to agree with something and then, when it comes down to the wire, he doesn’t. And I really didn’t want to hear the dreaded words, “It’s whatever you decide.” which is code for, “I’m leaving this decision up to you so that if anything goes wrong, you have no right to complain and I can blame you for the next 20 years!!”

Imagine my reaction when DH said he thought I should get the Nolting Funquilter because it was such a good deal!!!!

Yes, I am now the proud owner of a long arm quilter!!!

After finally getting through the hard part of having him agree to the purchase, now comes the even harder part – I have to clear out the place where it will be set up!! The bonus room over the garage has been a dumping ground of all the unused, but not-really-sure-what-to-do-with-it stuff for years. My mission is to get it all cleared out and make the room habitable in ONE WEEK!!!! Why, oh why did I not think ahead to this eventuality and start clearing out the junk before now!?!

Well, there’s no help for it, I just need to dig in and get to work!!

If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the garage!

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!! As I said on the phone this morning, I am sooooo happy for you. I know that you have been wanting a LAQ for quite a while. I also know that it is something that will definitely get used … not put up in the garage and forgotten. You need to call all of your kids and get them to help you in the clean-up. I absolutely want to see it in action once you have it all set up. Are you going to have an open house party with your QFF’s to show it off? I’m thinking that you are going to have more get-togethers with them in the garage rather than at the cabin!!! Again … CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  2. I hope by now you have your hearing back from last evening when you called and I screamed for joy in your ear upon hearing you got the LAQ!! Although cleaning the room for it will be drudgery, it’s kind of like birthing a baby – just think of the joy in your heart when it’s finished and you have that precious new thing to play with! Congratulations QFF!
